Because of erosion of the dunes at West Sands St Andrews the Beach and Coastal Officer for Fife Council is proposing vehicle restrictions to the last section of the beach road, this is the part we normally park on.
We are sure most of the regular kiters are aware that the dunes are rapidly becoming eroded and this seems like a sensible course of action. There will still be loads of parking before the barrier and access to the beach via the slip way.
As kiters we think we should accept this as a positive step to protecting the coastal environment.
Robbie Blyth the Beach and Coastal Officer will be presenting this proposal at the St Andrews Community Council meeting on Monday 5th at 6.30pm in the Royal Burgh Chambers of the Town Hall.
This meeting is open to anyone who wishes to view the presentation and ask any questions.
